MMVI Server

The MMVI project is a cooperation between Joeri Oudshoorn and myself. Both of us have a lot of online activities and as such have use for a completely flexible, dedicated server machine. The first server we built in 2006 (hence the name mmvi.nl) consists of mostly second-hand hardware built into a 1U rackmount server case. We added some memory and a different CPU-fan (the old one wouldn’t fit in the very small case) and a lot of diskspace. We loaded it with the Debian linux OS and the usual server and storage software. We then placed this machine in colocation at LeaseWeb, in the Shuberg Philis datacentre near Schiphol, Amsterdam.

At the time of this writing (Dec 2007), the machine has been running happily without a reboot since we started it in February 2006. It’s running a number of websites, an IRC server for the AsylumNet chat network and a number of my creations, some of which will eventually be published here.
